Old Wood Soul is an amazing local business here in Denver that makes handcrafted tables for your home (we have one!) and also rents gorgeous tables for your wedding or other big event. I was so excited to take some photos of Lauren and Keith in their shop and scooting around outside on some skateboards they made by hand out of reclaimed wood!
This year was a big one for me in so many ways! This was also the year that Niles and I got married! After getting engaged in Africa in February, we were married just 3 months later in Big Sur, California. It was a small wedding, just our immediate family and a couple of close friends. Just the way we wanted it! The day was so relaxed, with Niles and the guys grabbing brunch at the Big Sur Bakery followed by a oceanside hike. The girls gathered on a secret beach for a breakfast picnic and to share marriage advice. I loved getting ready back at the house, looking over the ocean, with such dear women all around me! Niles and I decided not to see each other before the ceremony, so it was so fun to walk down with my “tribe” to meet up with him and his people as we all sang “This is my story.” We both had waited so long to get married, which made the day even more special. During the ceremony, which was officiated by my best friend from high school Kate, each person said a blessing over our rings, which was so emotional and personal. Niles and I wrote our own vows, and it felt so amazing to declare our love and commitment to each other surrounded by our families, while the ocean crashed below. Our wedding feast was out of control, with everyone saying it was one of the best meals of their lives. I loved that our caterer only used fresh, local ingredients and worked with us to make the perfect meal. And we had napkins and table runners made out of fabric we’d purchased at a market in Rwanda! I loved having our photographs taken at sunset with The Parsons – it was surreal to be on the other side of the lens, with my new husband, in one of my favorite places in the world. We even saw some whales go by! We finished the evening around an epic bonfire, roasting s’mores, drinking wine, and laughing until our sides hurt. A special thanks to Jeremy & Ashley who captured this most beautiful of days – we will cherish these photos forever!
