I was so excited when Bluebird Productions contacted me a few weeks ago to see if I would be willing to come up to Aspen for a very special occasion. Matt would be up in Aspen with his girlfriend Jennifer (her friends call her J), and a big group of their friends. He wanted to propose to her on top of the mountain and they asked if I could come document it all! Of course I said yes, and I packed up my gear and headed up to the mountains. I met up with Kate from Bluebird and Matt on Saturday morning, while J was still sleeping. We rode up the gondola and scouted out the perfect spot, a tranquil grove of trees, covered in snow, out of the way of skiers. Matt showed me the ring, a gorgeous sparkler that came from J’s family jewelry shop in Michigan!
Later that afternoon, I stayed out of the way while Matt guided J to the designated spot under the guise of spending some time alone, away from their friends. She had absolutely no idea what was about to happen, and was one of the most happy, giddy brides-to-be I’ve ever seen once it happened. After snapping a few more pictures at the top of Ajax, we headed down the gondola, and took a few more pictures around the village of Aspen, the whole time J exclaiming, “this is such a good day!” We headed over to Justice Snow’s, where their friends were waiting for them and Kate from Bluebird Productions had put together an amazingly adorable engagement party. Congratulations Matt and J! I’m so honored to have captured this special day for you in such a beautiful place!
